Jon started his teaching career in 1998 after completing a CELTA in Budapest and spent the
next 5 years working as a teacher in the Spanish speaking world, namely Seville, Nicaragua
and gorgeous (but rainy) San Sebastian.
After completing his DELTA and eating his fill of Pintxos, he swapped Europe for the Middle
East, spending 6 years working for the British Council in Bahrain and training up as a tutor
for the YL Extension to CELTA in the process.
An interesting year on a university project in the Libyan Sahara followed and then 4
memorable years working as a freelancer in Sri Lanka where he trained to be a CELTA tutor,
as well as delivering many British Council projects in a wide variety of contexts and countries
including South Sudan, India, Myanmar and Tunisia to name but a few.
Combining his love of teacher education and scuba diving, he eventually ended up on the
tiny Maltese island of Gozo in 2014, teaching diving but continuing to run ELT courses all
over the world. His love of adventure led him to Kabul for 2 years, working with Afghan
teachers and teacher educators to improve English education in the Afghan state sector.
He now resides back in sunny Andalucía and currently divides his time between there and
Iraq, where he is working teaching oil workers.
He has also supported over 150 candidates with their DELTA Module 3, and is a specialist in
Teaching YLs, Monolingual and Multilingual classes, Teaching in a Non-English-speaking
Environment, Language for Teacher Educators, Exams, EAP and Business English.
