Общение заставляет детей говорить и думать одновременно. Пока они разговаривают и пытаются сформулировать свою точку зрения — приобретают ценные разговорные навыки.

Во время общения ученики также учатся слушать. Они должны понимать и принимать то, что говорит другой человек, даже если мнение этого человека отличается от его собственного.

Общение в классе помогает детям научиться мыслить критически. Они учатся понимать причины собственных чувств. Это поможет им объяснить, почему они, например, не любят сгущенку, а не просто сказать: «Я не знаю; Мне это не нравится».

Благодаря общению ученики развивают навыки публичного выступления. Они учатся четко формулировать свои мысли по поводу чего-либо, находясь в группе людей и, возможно, под небольшим давлением. Это помогает выйти из зоны комфорта и сделать что-нибудь новое.

Уже на первых этапах коммуникации дети приобретают толерантность к другим людям и их мнению. Общение среди сверстников делает это возможным, потому что дети начинают уже в раннем возрасте понимать, что не все думают так же, как они.

О чем следует помнить во время практики общения с YL?

• Обучая детей говорить по-английски, важно сосредоточиться на свободном общении, а не на точности.
• Главное, чтобы их понимали.
• Постоянное исправление ошибок окажет негативное влияние на мотивацию ученика и лишит желания выражать собственное мнение в будущем.
• Лучше после разговорной практики провести DEC для всего класса.

Во время разговора ученики должны чувствовать себя комфортно и безопасно, поэтому важно установить правила общения. К примеру, укажите, что во время разговора учащиеся должны внимательно слушать своего партнера и уважать его идеи и мысли.

Вы можете определить некоторые способы, с помощью которых ученики смогут задавать дополнительные вопросы, просить объяснение, если они чего-то не понимают. Также научите детей вежливо выражать несогласие со своим партнером.

Чередование партнеров при общении на английском имеет несколько преимуществ. Беседуя с разными одногруппниками, дети знакомятся с новыми идеями и стилями речи.

Разный уровень знаний и словарный запас учащихся будет способствовать развитию адаптирования под собеседника и тем самым улучшит речевые навыки каждого из них.

Для каждой темы ученикам понадобится определенный словарный запас. Для того чтобы они могли свободно высказать мнение, предоставьте список слов, которые будут полезны во время разговора. Дети также могут стесняться просить о помощи. Поэтому побуждайте их задавать вопросы и помогать друг другу.
